ANNE
EDWARDS
Ann
e Edwards is a native of New Hampshire
and a current resident of Milford . She is an Associate Attorney
General and the Litigation Unit Chief in the Civil Bureau of the
New Hampshire Attorney General's Office. Ann e received her law
degree from Boston University in 1989 and worked with the law
firms of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton and Sullivan
& Gregg prior to joining the Attorney General's Office in
1996. Ann e was assigned to the Claremont School District
v. Governor case in 1998. Since that time, Ann e has been
the State's lead counsel on all of the education funding challenges,
including the two constitutional challenges to the statewide property
tax which partially funds the State's education funding system.
Along with roles in other community organizations, Ann e is also
the President of the Swift Water Girl Scout Council serving all
of New Hampshire and 2 ½ counties of Vermont.
JACQUI
GUILLETTE
Jacqui
Guillette is the Superintendent of Schools for SAU #6 ( Claremont
, Cornish, and Unity). She is the proud wife of Peter Guillette,
mother or step-mother of four grown children, and soon to be the
grandmother to her sixth grandchild who is due to arrive in July
2005. Jaqui holds a CAGS in Educational Administration from UNH,
a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from UVM, and an
undergraduate degree from Middlebury College . She serves on the
Board of Directors for the Claremont Dental Initiative, is an
corporator for Claremont Savings Bank, and is on the Board of
Directors for the Claremont Development Authority and a member
of the BPW (Business and Professional Women). She also serves
on the statewide School Improvement Committee through DOE, and
is working with the Education Alliance at Brown University to
plan for professional development follow-up from the spring Superintendents'
Conference. Jacqui was the only Superintendent from NH who attended
the Council of Chief State School Officers' national meeting in
Tempe , AZ in 2005. She is a 2006 graduate of Leadership New Hampshire.
RICHARD
GUSTAFSON
Dr.
Richard Gustafson became Chancellor of the Community College
System of New Hampshire in July of 2007. |
Shortly
after his retirement from the position of President of Southern
New Hampshire University, Gustafson was asked to serve as
interim President of the NH Community Technical College-Manchester.
Gustafson then continued his association with the NHCTC
System through his involvement in special projects for the
System's Board of Trustees. Upon the retirement of the NHCTCS
Commissioner in 2007, Gustafson was again asked to lend
his expertise to the system by serving as Interim Commissioner.
[His title changed to Chancellor upon passage of legislation
renaming the System the Community College System of New
Hampshire]
Gustafson
is a graduate of Boston University (1963) where he earned
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Chemistry, and
a Master of Education Degree in Science Education in 1964.
He earned an additional Masters degree in Teaching English
as a Second Language in from Notre Dame College in 1997.
He completed a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational
Management and Educational Research with Computer Programming
and Statistics from the University of Connecticut in 1970.
Dr. Gustafson is also a graduate of the Harvard Institute
for Educational Management (1982) and was a Fulbright Senior
Research Fellow in Thailand (1999). |
In
1987, Dr. Gustafson was appointed as the fourth President
of New Hampshire College in Manchester , New Hampshire .
He served in that position for 16 years and transformed
the small business college into Southern New Hampshire University.
The University now awards degrees at the doctoral level
and has schools of business, education, community economic
development, liberal arts and hospitality. The University
serves more than 9000 traditional and adult students, offering
day, evening, weekend and internet based programs in Manchester
and on several satellite campuses. He continues to have
special responsibilities as President Emeritus of the University.

Dr.
Gustafson has served in a leadership capacity on the boards
of the New Hampshire College and University Council, the
New Hampshire Postsecondary Education Commission, the New
Hampshire Tuition Savings Plan Commission, the United Way
of Greater Manchester, the Manchester Chamber of Commerce,
the Federated Arts of Greater Manchester and the professional
organizations of the Association of Collegiate business
Schools and Programs International Division and the National
Association of Independent Colleges and Universities. |
Currently
Dr. Gustafson serves as vice chair of the Board of Trustees
of the Elliot Health System; as secretary of the Board of
Directors of AAA of Northern New England; as vice chair
of the Board of Trustees of Hellenic American University;
and as a member of the Boards of the Valley Cemetery . |
Dr.
Gustafson was selected as Leader for the 21st Century by
Business New Hampshire Magazine, was a recipient of the
Granite State Award from Keene State College in 2000 and
was named Manchester 's Citizen of the Year in 2003. |
MARY
HEATH
On
October 21, 2005 , the New Hampshire Executive Council unanimously
confirmed Governor John Lynch's nomination of Mary Heath as Deputy
Commissioner for the New Hampshire Department of Education. Mary
took the Oath of Office on October 26, 2005 for a four year term
of office.
Mary
began teaching in 1970 as an elementary teacher in Manchester
, New Hampshire . In 1978 after completing a Masters of Education
Program in Special Education at Rivier College , Mary initiated
the first high school special education program at Memorial High
School ( Manchester ). In 1984, Mary accepted a position at the
Manchester School of Technology providing services for disadvantaged
and disabled students as well as developing numerous special projects
and programs to deter students from leaving school prior to high
school graduation.
After
earning a second Masters of Education Degree and a Certificate
of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) from UNH, Mary became the Federal
Program Administrator in Manchester and managed federal program
allocations. During that time, she was the manager and writer
of numerous grant applications and worked extensively with the
greater school community in preparing "The Next Decade Report
for the Manchester School district ."
For
two years Mary worked as a federal Title I Technical Assistance
provider for RMC Research Corporation and from there joined the
NH Department of Education and became the team leader for the
Improving America's School Act (IASA) programs and assisted in
writing the IASA state plan to the US Department of Education.
In
1998 Mary was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Schools for
SAU #19 and retired from that position in 2003. Over the last
two years, Mary has worked as a grant writer for the Manchester
School District and also with the NH Association for Supervision
and Curriculum Development (NHASCD) and the NH Principals Association.
For
Mary, improving learning opportunities for all students has been
a life long mission. She has embraced the "Follow the Child"
initiative as a meaningful endeavor to reach every child and to
support their success in school socially, emotionally, physically
and academically.
Mary
currently serves as a Trustee for the Manchester City Library
and serves on the Advisory Board for the Greater Manchester Mental
Health Center. In addition, she is an Executive Board Member for
the NH "ED"ies and holds membership with the Association
for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), NHASCD, National
Staff Development Council, Phi Delta Kappan and is a retired member
of the NH School Administrators Association.

STEPHEN
RENO
As
Chancellor of the University System of NH (USNH), Stephen J. Reno
oversees the efforts of a 27-member Board of Trustees and four
major institutions to provide New Hampshire with well-coordinated
public higher education programs and services.
As
part of his broad responsibility for leadership of the state's
public higher education system, Dr. Reno works with leaders in
state government, business, industry, and education to build bridges
between the campuses and the larger New Hampshire community.
He
is a scholar of religious philosophy with an extensive background
both as a teacher and an academic administrator.
Dr.
Reno became president of the University of Southern Oregon in
1994, after serving as its provost and dean of faculty for five
years. From 1980 to 1989 he held faculty and administrative positions
at the University of Southern Maine . From 1970 to 1979 he was
a professor of religion at the University of Leicester in England
.
He
holds a doctorate in religious studies from the University of
California at Santa Barbara and is author of numerous articles
and books in his academic discipline .
Acting
on the recommendation of a search committee, Dr. Reno received
unanimous approval from the USNH Board of Trustees at a special
meeting on April 14, 2000. He officially succeeded the retiring
Chancellor William Farrell on August 1, 2000.
Dr.
Reno, his wife, Catherine, and their two children, Matthew and
Katy, and their dog Sage reside in Manchester .
ANDRU
VOLINSKY
Mr.
Volinsky is a member of the firm of Bernstein, Shur, Sawyer and
Nelson's litigation department and the employment law and education
practice groups. He also manages the firm's New Hampshire operations
from offices located in Manchester . Mr. Volinsky's practice focuses
upon employment law, commercial litigation and issues of white-collar
crime. He is recognized in Woodward and White's Best Lawyers
in America in all three of these practice areas. Mr. Volinsky
is also lead counsel for the school districts in New Hampshire
's landmark school funding cases.
Mr.
Volinsky is a 1980 graduate of the National Law Center at George
Washington University and is admitted to practice in New Hampshire
, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia . He has appeared
before administrative agencies, trial and appellate courts in
these states and has been admitted by motion on specific matters
in a number of other jurisdictions. Mr. Volinsky has also tried
numerous jury trials in civil cases and criminal cases in the
state and federal courts and has argued before the United States
Supreme Court. A significant component of Mr. Volinsky's practice
has involved conducting investigations on behalf of corporations
that have been accused of misconduct concerning employment practices
or corporate compliance and fraud issues.
Mr. Volinsky is a 2002 graduate of the
Leadership New Hampshire program sponsored by the Business and Industries
Association and the NH Charitables Association. He received the
NH-NEA Friend of Education award in 1996, was the recipient of the
NH Civil Liberties Union Bill of Rights Award in 1997, and was the
Merrimack County (NH) Attorney of the Year in 2000. Mr. Volinsky
has also been recognized by his peers as one of the three best lawyers
in the state to represent a party in difficult, public disputes.
