Building a Community of Informed Leaders

About Leadership New Hampshire

What is Leadership New Hampshire?
The mission  of Leadership New Hampshire is to increase civic engagement and strengthen communities through connecting and educating a diverse pool of engaged or emerging leaders about the state of New Hampshire.  Through this uniquely interactive, non-partisan, educational experience, Leadership New Hampshire Associates explore the issues and challenges critical to the state of New Hampshire.  This year long program allows Associates to interact with top state officials, judges, educators, prison inmates, students, artists, corporate leaders and others who receive, deliver or make decisions and policy that affect services.

How did Leadership New Hampshire get started?

Developed in 1992, Leadership New Hampshire was created in response to recommendations from the Governor's Commission on the 21st Century to "identify emerging talent, motivate emerging leaders concerning statewide issues and perspectives; build on the expectation that they will take on leadership roles on statewide issues and develop a network for effective leadership."

Who does Leadership New Hampshire benefit?
The Leadership New Hampshire program benefits not only Associates, but also their organizations, sponsors, and the state of New Hampshire, by providing a statewide perspective and connections to policy makers.

The Leadership New Hampshire experience broadens each associate's perspective by providing a deeper understanding of issues facing the state.  Associates build connections with  fellow classmates and policy makers as they explore shaping solutions to the challenges of today.  Associates, and sponsoring organizations are linked to this group of emerging, influential leaders of tomorrow as they  help increase civic engagement.  The state of New Hampshire benefits when emerging and engaged leaders understand the broad range of issues facing the diverse interests in New Hampshire, and have an  opportunity to interact with statewide leaders who shape policy.  Associates are prepared to create solutions, locally, regionally and statewide.
