By Deborah Novotny, LNH Class of 2017
What I took away from this two day adventure is that LNH does an outstanding job of interviewing applicants and choosing each individual carefully to ensure that as a group we compliment each other. I believe that our group will accomplish anything we put our minds to. I imagine that our guest speaker, Michele Holt Shannon, had a similar experience in her LNH Class of 2013, leading her to be part of NH Listens. She now helps to bridge differences by facilitating conversations between people with polar opposite views on topics, such as politics, to encourage understanding and decrease animosity toward each other.
I am excited to learn about New Hampshire with this group of people who are no longer strangers. Each of us is engaged and committed to our communities and we will bring a different perspective to the issues presented to us. The activities from camp provided us a new perspective on being patient , encouraging, and supportive of each other, which help us throughout our year.
I look forward to this journey, and to the relationships we will forge together.
