Katrina (Kate) Kindel was born and raised in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has a B.A. in English from Calvin College, as well as a Secondary Education Teaching Certificate in English and Social Sciences.

During her career, she has been a professional children’s book reviewer, newspaper columnist, journalist, managing editor for a chain of newspapers, an in-house institutional writer for an arts college, a grant writer, a technical writer and technical editor, author of numerous freelance articles, and also taught as an inner-city high school teacher for the federal Upward Bound program.

She fell in love with the state of New Hampshire during her first year of college here, but returned to Michigan to marry and, later, to raise her two sons. After her younger son graduated from high school, Kate finally fulfilled her lifelong dream and moved to New Hampshire in August of 2005.
