Associate Director of Facilities Operations and Management at Dartmouth College
Timothy J. McNamara is a native of Lebanon, New Hampshire, where his family history goes back to the 1850’s. He has served on the Lebanon City Council since 2015, was the City’s Assistant Mayor from 2017 –2019, and was recently elected Mayor. Tim is a graduate of Dartmouth College (AB 1978), Antioch University New England (MS 1983) and Plymouth State University (MBA 2013). Tim served as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve for over 20 years, retiring at the rank of Commander in 2006. From 1984-2000, Tim was employed as an environmental and land use planning consultant with firms in New Hampshire and Vermont. For the past 18+years he has worked at Dartmouth College, where he is currently the Associate Director of Facilities Operations and Management. In this capacity, Tim is responsible for all grounds at the College, as well as operations at Dartmouth’s Second College Grant; a 27,000-acre parcel in northern New Hampshire that is actively utilized for commercial forestry, research, education and recreation. Tim’s recreational interests center on the outdoors, and include hiking, kayaking, and cross-country skiing. He has summited all of the 4,000-foot peaks in New Hampshire and Vermont and is currently working on completing Maine’s 4,000 footers. Tim and his wife Pat (a recently retired elementary school teacher) have three children and three grandchildren.
