President at River Valley Community College
Alfred Williams is the President at River Valley Community College with campuses in Claremont, Lebanon, and Keene. He started at River Valley July 1,2018 and arrived in New Hampshire with close to 20 years of higher education experience. He previously worked at colleges in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Illinois. What he loves most about his job is being able to change lives through education and offer students the opportunity for a better future. In addition to his administrative roles, Alfred was an adjunct professor for many years. He both taught and designed classes, including American Government, Comparative Politics, and Business Law. Alfred received a BA in Government from Cornell University and his JD from the University of Illinois. Though he began his career as an Assistant District Attorney, Alfred soon found his true calling in higher education. His initial focus was in the field of Financial Aid and he continues to work to provide secondary education to the community with as little student loan debt as possible. Alfred lives in New London with his wife and two daughters. When he’s not working, he most enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, reading, and searching for the next great podcast. He enjoyed spending his first winter in New Hampshire teaching his oldest daughter to ski and his youngest daughter to skate on frozen ponds. He has quickly fallen in love with New Hampshire and all the wonderful nature to explore and enjoy.
